Berea Primary School Swimming

Hello and welcome to an exciting insight of our Berea Primary School Swimming Team

Swimming is one of the activities the learners at Berea Primary School thoroughly enjoy during the 1st and 4th terms. We boast a sparkling 25m pool which is a hive of activity during the 1st and 4th terms. Learners enjoy a weekly hour long swimming lesson where they learn water confidence, floating, diving, kicking and correct strokes. Swimming is also offered as an extra-curricular activity in the afternoons.

The Annual Interhouse Swimming Gala took place on Friday 4 March. The support from family and friends was amazing and the atmosphere was electric with plenty of war cries and cheering and splashes. Every learner is encouraged to participate and enjoys participating in at least two events. The winning house of the 2016 Gala was Impala. The winners of the trophies for the "Most Promising Swimmer" were Kirsten Goad (Grade 7), Gcina Ntsele (Grade 6), Astin Jonathan (Grade 5) and Caitlyn Davids (Grade 4).

Berea Primary School is very proud of our Swimming Team captained by Jada Titus who participated in the Durban and District Interschool Gala at the Kings Park Pool on Wednesday 24 February. The team acquitted themselves very well. Each member of the team gave of their very best and learnt a great deal from the experience of swimming in the 50 metre Olympic size pool.
